The reducing need for the type and size of alternative provision in Wirral, raises concerns regarding the future viability of Emslie Morgan Academy.
Working in partnership with the Department for Education, Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council, Liverpool City Region Academy Trust and the Education and Skills Funding Agency, we are all agreed that we have reached a point where is right and correct that we stop and look at what the future holds for Emslie Morgan Academy.
As a consequence, the Trust Board is launching a listening period to discuss the future of the school.
The option that is being strongly considered is that Emslie Morgan Academy will close at the end of this academic year (ie by August 2019). This would mean that, with our continued support, every Year 11 student there would be able to finish their course without any disruption to their education, and the school would work closely with local schools and Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council to secure appropriate provision for pupils who are progressing through their high school years from September 2019 onwards.
We are also aware of the impact that this will have on the employment situation of the staff team involved. During the listening period we will also be supporting staff as they consider the potential impact of this decision on their careers and allows staff time to secure alternative employment opportunities should they wish.
If you would like to submit comments or feedback about this consultation, please use this form to provide your feedback.
The listening period will run until 5pm in the 17th May 2019.
The Listening period has now ended.
